Hey Stars!
How is July treating you? What have you learnt in the past weeks? July has been nice to me, doesn’t mean everything is sunshine and rainbows, but it’s been good.
How was my last letter to you? I hope it brought light to you.
Today, I want to touch on a topic we all must have in this thing called life. Let’s study the serpent real quick, lol don’t get scared it’s just the best illustration for what I want to share with you.
The serpent has been able to master the art and science of surviving in any environment. It can be found on ground level, trees, underground, underwater, which is quite different from other animals, so this is pointing out something that we all need to have, which is Wisdom.
The serpent doesn’t just know how to survive in this harsh world but also has observation skills, which help in assessing environments, being strategic in thinking, carefully planning its movements and actions, and also having the ability to discern truth from falsehood, recognize danger, and make wise choices.
Now, what does Jesus tell us about wisdom? Because that’s the purpose of my writing.
He says: Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”
When you read this, a lot of questions can pop up in your mind like, How many character traits am I to portray, Jesus? Sheep? Serpent? Dove? And it’s fine to ask Jesus those questions. But here’s the answer for that: YOU ARE TO PORTRAY ALL BASED ON DISCERNMENT.
Someone who is not wise, it shows in the way they talk because they can never keep their mouth shut (see Proverbs 21:23). They never listen to instructions. In their day-to-day lives, you see how they lack wisdom they are inflexible and unchangeable, wasteful, confused, and disorderly.
Wisdom is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement.” It’s the ability to use your experience and knowledge in order to make sensible decisions and judgments.
What does Scripture tell us about wisdom (there are so many things to learn from the Scriptures, but I’ll be touching on one key aspect)?
It says in Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.” This is what wisdom is.
You might say “I don’t fear God, yet I am wise and have sound judgment.” Let’s see what Scripture tells us about that: James 3:15 — “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”
Earthly wisdom is often equated with common sense or practical knowledge gained by experience the ability to navigate basic solutions and understand the world around us.
Sensual wisdom is often associated with academic knowledge, intellectual pursuits, and worldly understanding.
And devilish wisdom this is characterized by being manipulative, deceitful, and ultimately harmful. It’s inspired by evil forces and used for destructive purposes.
But what is wisdom from above? This is the highest form of wisdom it comes from God, and it leads to peace, purity, and good works. It follows love, mercy, and impartiality. Sometimes, this wisdom requires faith where it doesn’t make sense to the world, but you go ahead and make that decision.
Example: Sensual wisdom based on physics and all, has proven that a boat can float, but humans can’t float on water because their average density is greater than that of water. But see what Jesus did, He walked on water! (See Matthew 14:25)
Stars, I know we all need wisdom, and some might even lack that wisdom from above.
But guess what? Here’s the good news: James 1:5 — “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” So don’t panic if you lack wisdom just ask your Father.
Practical steps on how to get wisdom:
Pray to God to give you Wisdom from Above
Become a master at non-dependent living (build your life, don’t wait for someone to do anything for you, remember the serpent, it can survive the worst of all places)
Cultivate inner power (pray, fast, read your Bible, find Scriptures that talk about wisdom and begin to meditate on them)
Become a master at overcoming handicaps (divorce excuses today)
Become a master at contentment (with so little, the snake has the capacity to live for many years, so sustain intelligence to live minimally without needing a lot of things)
Cultivate silence (see Proverbs 20:12 — take your time before speaking, it's thinking before saying, don’t be noisy. Not everything you observe is worth speaking about)
I believe this letter has touched your heart in some way.
I’ll be wrapping up with this: Star, get all the wisdom (advice + instruction), so you can be wise for the rest of your life. And pray that the Lord’s light penetrates into your spirit and exposes every hidden motive, and it is replaced with the fear of the Lord.
If you’ve read up to this point, you’re amazing!!! I love you, Star! And don’t worry, the Holy Spirit is Wisdom Himself, and He will continue to guide you in every decision.
Always and Forever Rooting for You.
With love,
Rejiwritess.
