I love to spend my weekends; learning, growing, and having quiet time. So, this Saturday, I was on YouTube, watching this amazing show: The Shining Light Show. Pastor Olushola Olaleye was speaking some profound words and I picked this statement he said; there’s beauty in imperfection.
The Bible teaches us, that anything we find our hands doing we should do it well, with all our heart and strength (Ecc. 9:10) I love this verse because it pushes me to work harder and do better. But here’s what happens. Most time, I would have done an excellent job, I mean put in so much effort for that content, assignment, task, and so on.
But then, the devil comes with his lies; starts weighing me down with finding all the faults in my work, making me feel insecure, making me feel it wasn’t enough... it wasn’t perfect.
I have always wanted more and wasn’t ever satisfied with average. Which is good, but I keep forgetting that imperfection could be someone’s perfection.
All those faults, mistakes, insecurity, you are seeing it all in your head. Change your focus from yourself, and make everything about the message you are passing, about that one person that’d see it and appreciate your work. And if the criticism comes, take it as a place for advancement, and try not to make that same mistake in your next work.
Like my good friend would always say life is not that deep, but it’s deep. You need to know where you are right now isn’t where you will be tomorrow, next month, or even next year. If today didn’t go as perfectly as you planned, look again there’s something beautiful in it you didn’t pay attention to.
Stars, I would love you to read this twice if you can and before I leave, I have something for you.
How you learn to find the beauty in imperfection:
• Gratitude.
• Acceptance.
• Patience: process.
• Growth.
I love you all! And remember there’s more!
