Hi! How are you doing? I know you must be tired of the how are you doing text, but please take it lightly. how is your health? How’s home, school, or work going? For those saved, how’s your Christian life going? for those who don’t know Jesus. When are you going to give Him a chance?
Let me give you a tip of the iceberg of how my life has been. Today the sun shined so bright, that I had to squint my eyes to take a look at the sky, today in my devotional: Open Heavens. I was charged not to be slothful in business, and I can’t become a great person if I am lazy. Welp, let me not bore you with all that.
You might be wondering, why I am writing this letter to you, If you can remember, last week I shared the lessons I learned from the book of Esther. And today I’d be sharing more lessons I learned with you.
• Mordecai: reading Esther 4:1 he was sad when he got the news about what was going to happen to his people. Obviously, he had put his people into a huge problem because he obeyed God. If I were Mordecai in this case, I would be feeling so guilty, I’d be crying for God to free the innocent ones and let me alone face the consequences. But one thing I got from this text was Mordecai wasn’t quiet he tore his clothes and put on sack clothes. He showed all his feelings, he wasn’t acting comfortable or in agreement with the news. This got me thinking: how many times have I been too comfortable with the enemy’s words to me. In Mordecai’s case he wasn’t agreeing to it, he cried out. (Esther 4:2) Another thing was, that Mordecai wasn’t ready to pretend. (Esther 4:4) Esther had sent her maids to clothe him with fine raiment but he refused. Why? because how couldn’t be sitting comfortably in fine raiment while his people suffered. It didn’t just add up to him. And lastly, Mordecai humbled himself and obeyed Esther. (Esther 4:17)
• Esther: I loved her curiosity, she knew how to ask the right questions (Esther 4:5) Esther was being careful, trying to reason with Mordecai, because Mordecai told her to go to the king’s court and plead for her people, knowing fully well whoever goes into the king’s inner court and hasn’t been called would be put to death, except the king should hold out the golden scepter. Esther was quite learned she didn’t just act like Queen Vashti; she was logical. Thank God for Mordecai who called Esther out of her fear and logical reasoning, Mordecai charged her not to be selfish and self-centered (Esther 4:11, 13), and then in verse 14 of that chapter, God used Mordecai to open Esther’s eyes. Esther was about to miss her opportunity, she was about to become too logical to see what God had planned for her, Mordecai explained to her that if she kept quiet and thought she would be free, God would deliver her people from another place and not her and she will miss her opportunity, not only that, her and her family would be destroyed. And he questioned her: What if God has brought you to this kingdom for a time like this? And this got me thinking, there’s time for everything. If you don’t act on your own time and be sensitive in the spirit to know this is your time, your blessings can pass you by. God is not going to wait for you, God can raise stones to praise Him remember? So, stop being logical with God’s plan, time, and purpose. Don’t remain silent, act on your call and time. (Esther 4:14) After Mordecai opened her eyes, she was ready to face her fears. (Esther 4:16)
• The Jews: I love these people; I love their cooperation. In every province, when they read the king’s commandment they were mourning, fasting, weeping, and wailing. And they wore sack clothes and ashes. They weren’t pretending, they weren’t adjusting to their enemy’s scheme, they weren’t sitting down doing nothing. (Esther 4:16) These people cooperated with Esther, when she told them to fast for three days without water and food; they obeyed. Some could have disagreed with Esther, feeling she departed them and even never informed the king that she was a Jew, like side eye! But no! They all obeyed Esther. Such power of unity!
My loves, that would be all for today on my review of the book of Esther, if you read up to this point, you are a real one and I’m happy for you.
Thank you for reading,
Go burn bright you are a star.
XOXO.
